  • Natural Benefit;
  • Dimensional Stability;
  • Workability;
  • Sustainability.

Natural Preservative

Cedar is one of the world’s most durable woods. Cedar fibers contain oils that act as natural preservatives to help the wood resist insect attack, rot and decay making it an excellent furniture material for moist or humid climates. Among other things these naturally occurring organic compounds called (thujaplicins) give off that distinct and wonderful cedar aroma that is pleasant to humans but a deterrent to insects, moths and other wood pests. Its bacterial and fungal resistance makes it the most desirable wood to use in conjunction with an aquaponics systems.

Natural Warmth and Beauty

There are many reasons as to why cedar is a complimentary addition to any build or design style; one great reason that cedar tends to remain popular throughout the years is that its natural beauty will age gracefully and show less signs of wear than other softer woods. This makes it great for use in furniture, windows, ceilings, etc.

Natural Benefit

  • Excellent insulating value; holds in heat and keeps out cold.
  • Sound suppression and absorption.
  • No need to stain, varnish or waterproof.

Dimensional Stability

Cedar has twice the stability of most commonly available softwoods and has 80% of the strength of Oak. The stability is a result of its low density and shrinkage factors. It lies flat, stays straight, and holds fastenings tightly, which means it resists the natural tendency to crack and check as you might find in many other wood species

Workability

Cedar is one of the easiest woods to work with as far as consistency and texture are concerned. We choose to use this type of wood due to its agreeable nature; easy to sand, cut, saw and nail. Cedar wood also boasts less grain pattern, which works well with our simplistic design. The wood naturally holds less resin which allows our glues and adhesives to work their magic with less resistance; this goes for paints and stains as well.

Sustainability

Cedar products that come from professionally managed, renewable cedar forests are a leading building product in sustainable resources. We take great pride to include sustainability conscious wood materials in all of our products. Eco-friendly is key
